Backing up your iPhone helps protect your photos, messages, and contacts in case your phone needs a reset during troubleshooting or repair. We’ll always try to avoid data loss, but having a current backup is the safest move.

Option 1: iCloud Backup (fastest for most people)
  1. Connect to Wi‑Fi and plug your iPhone into power (recommended).
  2. Go to Settings → tap your name (Apple ID) → iCloud → iCloud Backup.
  3. Turn iCloud Backup ON (if it isn’t already).
  4. Tap Back Up Now and wait for it to finish.
  5. To confirm it worked: on the same screen, check Last successful backup.

Tip: If it won’t back up, you may need more iCloud storage. Go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Option 2: Backup to a Mac (Finder)
    1. Connect iPhone to your Mac with a cable.
    2. Open Finder.
    3. Select your iPhone in the left sidebar (under Locations).
    4. Click General.
    5. Choose Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac.
    6. Click Back Up Now.

Optional (recommended): Check Encrypt local backup to save passwords/Health data (you’ll create a backup password—don’t forget it).

Option 3: Backup to a Windows PC (iTunes)
        1. Install/open iTunes on your PC.
        2. Connect your iPhone with a cable.
        3. Click the phone icon in iTunes.
        4. Click Summary.
        5. Under Backups, choose This Computer.
        6. Click Back Up Now.

Optional (recommended): Check Encrypt local backup to include passwords/Health data.

Quick checklist before you leave it with us

          • Make sure the backup finished successfully (not just “started”).
          • If your phone is acting up, a computer backup can be more reliable than iCloud.
          • If you use Authenticator apps (2FA), make sure you know how yours transfers to a new phone (some require extra steps).

If your screen is broken or the phone won’t stay on long enough to back up, tell us what’s going on. In many cases we can help you choose the best next step before we start work.
